Nach Myopia, ihrem vierten Studioalbum (2020), veröffentlicht Agnes Obel nun Live from Brooklyn, eine neue digitale EP: Vier Tracks aus Myopia wurden im Januar 2020 in Aufführungen von Agnes Obel im intimen Rahmen des National Sawdust in Brooklyn, New York, live mitgeschnitten: »Camera’s Rolling«, »Island Of Doom«, »Myopia« und »Won’t You Call Me«.
Aufgrund der Pandemie musste Obels Welttournee 2020 abgekürzt werden. Vielleicht, so hofft sie, bietet die Veröffentlichung dieser Liveaufführungen ihren Fans einen kleinen Trost.
»Als wir in Groningen auftraten, kam dieses seltsame Gefühl in der Halle auf und auch unter uns in der Band, dass dieses Konzert womöglich das letzte sein könnte, das wir zusammen spielen würden«, sagt Obel. »Auch für das Publikum war das ein schwer fassbares Gefühl. Es mag seltsam klingen, doch die Menschen im Publikum waren so herzlich und zugewandt, als wüssten sie, dass sie eine Weile nicht mehr in ein Konzert gehen können.«

Danish-born, Berlin-based singer-songwriter, pianist and producer announces her new digital EP, Live from Brooklyn, set for release on 21 May 2021
Following the release of her fourth studio album Myopia in 2020, Agnes Obel returns with a new four-track digital EP, Live from Brooklyn. The live performances, recorded during Agnes’s intimate National Sawdust shows in Brooklyn, New York in January 2020, feature four tracks from Myopia: “Camera’s Rolling”, “Island Of Doom”, “Myopia” and “Won’t You Call Me”.
Obel hopes that the release of these live tracks will provide some consolation to fans who were unable to attend her 2020 world tour after it was cut short because of COVID−19 restrictions.
“When we played in Groningen there was this strange, eerie feeling at the venue and amongst us in the band that this would be the very last time we would play together. It was an incredible feeling – for the audience too. It sounds weird, actually, the audience were so warm and attentive, and it was like they knew they wouldn’t go to a concert for a while,” recalls the artist.

Sortie le 21 mai de « Live from Brooklyn », le nouvel EP numérique de l’auteur-compositrice-interprète, pianiste et productrice danoise installée à Berlin
Après la sortie, en 2020, de son quatrième album studio, Myopia, Agnes Obel revient avec Live from Brooklyn, un EP numérique comportant quatre morceaux enregistrés aux concerts qu’elle a donnés dans l’intimité au National Sawdust, à Brooklyn (New York), en janvier 2020. Les quatre morceaux, qui figurent sur Myopia, s’intitulent Camera’s Rolling, Island Of Doom, Myopia et Won’t You Call Me.
Agnes Obel espère que la publication de ces prises de concert offrira un peu de consolation aux fans qui n’ont pas pu la voir sur scène à cause du Covid−19, lequel a coupé court à sa tournée mondiale 2020.
« Lorsque nous nous sommes produits à Groningen, il régnait un sentiment étrange, insolite, sur le lieu du concert et au sein du groupe : on avait l’impression que ce serait la toute dernière fois que nous nous produirions ensemble. C’était un sentiment incroyable – pour le public aussi. Cela peut paraître bizarre parce que les gens étaient en fait très chaleureux et attentifs, c’était comme s’ils savaient qu’ils n’iraient pas au concert pendant un bout de temps », se souvient la chanteuse.
