Sonic Youth arbeiten zur Zeit an einer Compilation, bei der Freunde der Band jeweils ihren liebsten Song auswählen konnten und die entsprechenden Liner-Notes verfassten. Das Album kommt in den USA voraussichtlich Anfang 2008, wird “Hits Are For Squares” heißen und nur bei Starbucks und hearmusic.com erhältlich sein.

Bei Billboard.com sagte Thurston Moore dazu: “I guess, for some, Sonic Youth represents something that they don’t really equate with Starbucks. But I kind of like the absurdity of it. Sonic Youth has always, in a way, made itself available to the super mainstream.”
